Lord-Lieutenant Lady Haughey CBE presented the King’s Award for Voluntary Service to Grow Uddingston at a special celebration event which took place at Park Church Uddingston on Sunday 15th February 2026.
Grow Uddingston is a community-led group focused on improving the environment and appearance of Uddingston. Volunteers have transformed key areas such as Uddingston Cross, the Railway Station, and the village gateway, while leading local projects in tree planting, litter picking, and graffiti removal. Their work brings people together and has earned recognition for horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility, and community participation.
Grow Uddingston joins a distinguished list of charities, social enterprises, and voluntary groups across the UK to receive this prestigious award , the highest recognition a local voluntary organisation can receive , equivalent to an MBE. Their work exemplifies the outstanding contribution of volunteers to strengthening local communities and improving lives.
The King’s Award for Voluntary Service was established in 2002 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee and continues under His Majesty The King, who remains committed to recognising the exceptional efforts of volunteer groups. The recipients were announced on 14th November 2025, The King’s Birthday.
