REMEMBRANCE SERVICES – NOVEMBER 2021

As we approach Remembrance Sunday on 14th November 2021 the Lanarkshire Lieutenancy has finalised plans to lay sixty eight wreaths at towns and villages right across the county . A number of locations having been added to what was an already extended list in 2020 , as the Lieutenancy  aims  to include every war memorial in Lanarkshire .

Lord Lieutenant Lady Haughey CBE said ” Where memorial services are once again taking place, following the Covid restrictions in operation last year, the Lieutenancy will  be represented at as many of these as is possible as we remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life .  “
A number of ceremonies also took place on Armistice Day , Thursday November 11th and the photograph below is of Deputy Lieutenant Louis Munn DL and the Provost of South Lanarkshire Council, Councillor Ian McAllan who observed the national two minute silence at Hamilton’s Victoria Cross Memorial on Castle Street .
