On Wednesday 28th August 2019 a small ceremony was held at the Civic Centre, Motherwell where Lord-Lieutenant Lady Haughey CBE presented Cadet Sergeant Connor Mullen of 2 Platoon Royal Scots Borderers with his certificate of appointment as the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet of Lanarkshire. Cadet Sergeant Mullen will have the opportunity to assist the Lord-Lieutenant at civic and military occasions and, where possible, Royal Visits.
Also receiving an award that evening was Sergeant Instructor Holly Pender of 2 Platoon Royal Scots Borderers. SI Pender received her Diana award from the Lord-Lieutenant which is in recognition of her many years of service to the community in Lanarkshire. This covers a wealth of roles including her service to the Army Cadet Force and her position as a healthcare assistant at St Andrew’s Hospice. The award is also in recognition of her work with Marie Curie Cancer Care providing support and care to terminally ill patients and their families in their homes. Well done to Cadet Sergeant Mullen and Sergeant Instructor Pender.
For information, the other gentleman in the photo is Lt Col Alex McNamee, Commandant of Army Cadet Force Glasgow & Lanarkshire Battalion.
