Deputy Lieutenant Fahim Baqir DL recently represented the Lord Lieutenant at the East Kilbride Sea Cadets Awards . Commenting on his attendance Fahim said –
“It was a privilege, in my role as Deputy Lieutenant of Lanarkshire, to attend the East Kilbride Sea Cadets Awards and help recognise the achievements of an inspiring group of young people.
It was fantastic to see first-hand the commitment, discipline and teamwork shown by the cadets. The Sea Cadets provide young people with much more than activities and training — they develop confidence, leadership, resilience and a real sense of responsibility and service.
A particular pleasure to see the cadets recognised for their individual achievements and to hear about the opportunities available to them, from sailing and offshore experiences to competitions and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Congratulations to all the award winners, cadets, volunteers, instructors and families who contribute so much to the success of East Kilbride Sea Cadets.
