The Queen’s Reading Room Medal: nominations now open.
Do you know someone who has been a reading hero in their community? Is there someone you’d like to see recognised for bringing books to people? We want to hear from and about volunteers who are helping others make room for reading in their lives.
The Queen’s Reading Room, the literary charity founded by Her Majesty Queen Camilla, exists to promote and advocate for the transformative power of reading for everyone, everywhere. The Queen’s Reading Room Medal celebrates individuals in their communities who are champions of books and literature. We want to hear from volunteers who have made a demonstrable impact on the people they serve: improving literacy, transforming non-readers into readers, or helping to improve wellbeing by connecting people through books and stories. Two medals will be presented next March 2027: a Local Reading Hero award and a National Reading Hero award.
Nominations may be for an individual – including yourself – or for another adult and opened on 1st June 2026, which marked the start of National Volunteering Week.
