The ‘Friends Together Club’, based in St Patrick’s Parish in Coatbridge, were recently recognised at an awards investiture in Edinburgh.
The Club offers 150 people of all ages with special needs, a regular opportunity to socialise through monthly parties with music, dancing and food and biannual outings.
5 members of the Club were awarded medals for their devotion and commitment over the last eight years.
The medals were awarded by the Sovereign Military Hospitaller of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta. Described by the United Nations as the world’s largest faith-based humanitarian organisation, the Order brings support to the poor, sick and homeless across the globe.
The Awards Investiture took place at the Gillis Centre in Edinburgh following Mass in St Margaret’s Chapel.
