GARTSHERRIE BOWLING CLUB CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS

On behalf of Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire Lady Haughey CBE , Deputy Lieutenant Alastair Peat DL attended the Centenary celebrations for Gartsherrie Bowling Club on Saturday 20th April 2024.

Sadly the Club’s Centenary President, Andy Allan, could not attend as he is currently undergoing medical treatment but his wife, Mary, and family were in attendance at the event. Mary formally opened the Centenary season by ceremonially throwing the jack and opening bowl, and later unfurled a new Centenary flag to be flown at the green during this special year.

A Centenary Dinner was held later that afternoon for club members and invited guests from fellow local clubs, chaired by Andy Watt, Club Vice-President, and David Rice, Club Secretary and retiring Club President.

Lady Haughey arranged for a commemorative Plaque to be presented to the Club in celebration of the wonderful achievement of reaching 100 years in the community.

Alastair Peat DL , Mary Allan and  Andy Watt  are photographed  on presentation of the commemorative plaque.
