APPOINTMENT OF NEW DEPUTY LIEUTENANTS

The Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire Lady Haughey CBE is delighted to announce the appointment of two new Deputy Lieutenants –

Alison Plummer DL

Alison has  lived in Hamilton for over 40 years and  has  2 married daughters and a grandson, who is the ‘Apple of his Grandma’s eye”.

A  Secondary teacher for many years, before moving into Further Education, as a lecturer & Student Adviser. In 2004, Alison moved to work in SQA as a Qualifications Development Manager, retiring  in 2018.

A  member of Girlguiding, since she was a 7 year old Brownie. Alison  was a District Commissioner and then County Commissioner of Girlguiding Glasgow. An active Trainer, Tutor & Reviewer in Girlguiding, as well as a ‘Safe Space’ (Safeguarding) Trainer. She is also Chair of the  local Trefoil Guild.

Alison is Chair of Adult Support for both Girlguiding Scotland and UK and Lead Volunteer for Girlguiding Scotland’s Centenary celebrations/projects/events.

Outwith Girlguiding, she is  Chair of the Trustees for a local Centre in Hamilton (St Mary’s for All)  a Director of Hyzone, a collaborative youth project for children and young people in the town, working with South Lanarkshire Council and three of Hamilton’s town centre churches.

William  Tennant DL LLB NP

Born and bred in Lanark, Bill is a well-known figure in the local community.

He attended Lanark Primary School, then Edinburgh Academy, and studied Law at Edinburgh University.

Bill is a Director at Davidson & Shirley Solicitors in Lanark, where he has worked since 1980.

He is a Lanark Greyfriars Church Elder, a member of the Lanark Rotary Club and a Trustee of YMCA Lanark.

Bill is an ex-Lord Cornet and continues to participate in the Lanimer Day celebrations.

He is married to Lilias with three children; two sons, a daughter, and one granddaughter. Bill enjoys Rugby, Curling, Skiing and Sailing.
