An official announcement regarding the Royal Garden Party in Edinburgh on 1st July 2020 is expected shortly . Very sadly over 380 people from Lanarkshire have died from the virus and our thoughts and sympathies are with their families and friends at this exceptionally difficult time .
I know I speak for everyone in the Lieutenancy in paying tribute to NHSL, doctors, nurses, care workers and those who put their life at risk to care for Covid 19 patients. Along with front line emergency , public sector employees , voluntary organisations and other key workers they have done an amazing job working tirelessly and selflessly providing essential services and support to the people of Lanarkshire. There has also been a tremendous and powerful response in these very challenging times from so many people who have volunteered and helped others in their local community .
As stated by Her Majesty The Queen in her broadcast to the nation on 5th April 2020 ” Together we are tackling this disease and I want to reassure you that if we remain united and resolute we will overcome it. “
