Boys’ Brigade Forward in Fellowship Concert

Deputy  Lieutenant Derrick Hannan represented Lanarkshire Lieutenancy at the recent Boys’ Brigade concert in aid of two local charities, Hope for Autism and You Are My Sunshine. The concert raised approximately £3000 split equally between the chosen charities. Dalziel St Andrews church in Motherwell hosted the event which took place on Saturday 29 February, 2020. The church was packed to capacity both upstairs and downstairs. The opening act was a performance from ‘The Jolly Bs’ a group from the Stonehouse male voice choir. The Boys’ Brigade Pipes and Drums group then entertained the audience with a stirring collection of well- known tunes. Then internationally renowned musician Mr Mark Hindley delighted the audience playing a selection of classical pieces on one of the finest organs in the country. The final performance was from the Scottish and United Kingdom champion band from Wishaw and District of the Boys’ Brigade who performed a selection from their repertoire. Following the cheque presentation the entire group of talented musicians joined for a phenomenal version of Highland Cathedral. Mr Hannan commented, “This was a truly great evening of entertainment. Great credit to the Boys’ Brigade movement in Lanarkshire. The organisation remains really strong within Lanarkshire with 5% of the total worldwide movement based in the county. Two really well deserving charities Hope for Autism and You are my Sunshine were supported whilst entertaining a full house of appreciative adults and young people in the audience”.
