CENTENARY REMEMBRANCE

On behalf of Lord Lieutenant Lady Susan Haughey CBE,   the Minister and Kirk Session of Bothwell Parish Church held a special service on Saturday 10th November 2018 as Lanarkshire’s commemoration of the ending of World War One .
The service was conducted by The Reverend James M Gibson TD , Minister of Bothwell , Chaplain to Her Majesty The Queen and Member of the Chapel Royal in Scotland assisted by Reverend John Thomson – Chaplain , Hamilton British Legion , Reverend Jonathan Livingstone , Scottish Episcopal Diocese ,  The Right Revd. Bishop Joseph Toal Roman Catholic Diocese of Motherwell and Ian Forsyth MBE ,Hamilton British Legion   . The service was well   attended and included representatives of  the  Lieutenancy , North and South Lanarkshire Councils , the UK and Scottish Parliaments . The Lord Lieutenant laid a wreath at the First World War Memorial Table in commemoration of all who fought, died or were wounded. Readings were  by Ian McKellar , Alison Rennie , Provost Jean Jones of North Lanarkshire Council   and Provost Ian McAllan of South Lanarkshire Council . Sincere thanks are due to everyone involved in what was a very fitting and poignant service of commemoration .

On Remembrance Sunday the Lieutenancy was once again represented at services  across Lanarkshire laying wreaths in memory of all those  who made the ultimate sacrifice to secure the freedom we all value so much today , as well as remembering the many people who continue to suffer as a consequence of previous conflicts .
