Lord Lieutenant Opens Spring Flowerfest in Lanark – 11th May 2018

Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire, Lady Haughey CBE along with Lanark-born Chelsea Pensioner , Walter Swan officially opened the Lanark Community Development Trust’s inaugural Spring Flowerfest at Castlebank Park , Lanark on Saturday 11th May 2018.

This first Flowerfest was a massive success attracting over 1700 people on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and was blessed with excellent weather . Trustee Dr Jamie Hill who is responsible for the Trusts’ Arts and Events was delighted that the event was so well supported by local groups , businesses and South Lanarkshire Council . The programme for the weekend had a Royal Wedding theme which included a container garden garden competition for local primary and nursery schools .The Primary School contest was won by Robert Owen with Underbank second and New Lanark third . Clyde Valley Kindergarten won the Nursery competition with St Nicholas Playgroup and Robert Owen Nursery in second and third place .
Many congratulations to everyone involved in delivering such a fantastic community event which was enjoyed by so many who will now be looking forward to next year’s Spring Flowerfest.
